| Fender American Vintage ‘62 Jaguar - Sunburst
Introduced in 1962, the Jaguar was initially marketed as a jazz guitar, but was quickly adopted by surf guitarists. Since then, the Jaguar has been used to play most every genre of music imaginable, from punk to classic rock to new wave to grunge. Many high-profile guitarists have been known to play Jaguars. From Hendrix to Cobain to Frusciante. The Fender Jaguar borrows the same offset waist body shape and dual-circuit design used in the Jazzmaster, however the Jaguar's pickups are more like Stratocaster pickups. Why doesn't the Jaguar sound like a Strat? Jags use a 1 meg pot on the lead circuit and strats use 250K's. You can dial into more Strat-esque tones by turning your tone switch down and turn it back up to get those signature Jag treble tones.
As mentioned before, the Jaguar offers up a dual circuit design. That explains the multitude of switches. Don't be intimidated by them. It only takes a short while to learn the function of each switch. Here is a link to a diagram of the Fender '62 American Vintage Reissue's switch and control function: Jaguar Switch & Controls
The Jaguar is an extremely versatile guitar capable of handling anything thrown at it, and it's one of the finest crafted guitars Fender has made to date. So dare to be different!
